HOME-BASED: 7 THINGS YOU’RE PROBABLY GONNA HATE

Writer's picture: Barbara CarubioBarbara Carubio

Working from home is all rainbows and sparkles. No one watches over your shoulder, no dress codes, no hassle getting to work, and unlimited coffee and snacks! Yeah it’s pretty awesome but here are some realities that kinda make working from home suck just a little bit:

  • The “look”

That “look” people give when you tell them you work from home. Confused? Disappointed? We’ll never know. If the pandemic didn’t happen, people couldn’t fully grasp the whole wfh situation. The concept confuses them and some might think you’re not doing any actual work.

  • Expensive hardware/software

Personal computers are expensive. We’re not all tech-savvy and deciding to buy a good computer is confusing, not to mention installing all the necessary software needed for the job.

  • Pets are annoyingly adorable

You’d think working from home would do your pets some good but the opposite is always what happens. Your dog would cuddle up or would want to play. The cat would lay on your keyboard or spill your coffee. They’d be so up in your face but you love them still and hope they know your working for them too.

  • What is a shower?

The flexibility of rolling out your bed and straight to work in a mere 5 minutes is astonishing! It pays to keep a regular routine but there are times you find yourself sitting in your pajamas at 3PM basking in the ambience of your morning breath.

  • Knock knock

Is my package here? Was I expecting someone? Sometimes your family forgets you work from home. Your flexible schedule allows you to entertain them but you forget you haven’t showered yet and you’re still in your pajamas!

  • Freelance Fifteen

Ahh the perks of working from is the unlimited access to your pantry or kitchen! Your craving that you might think will be a “little snack” surely backfires and boom you gained 15 pounds!

  • Self - Control

Working in the office, you probably called in sick just because you didn’t feel like going to work. Admit it. When you work across the room rather than across the city, it’s easy to dip out. You’ll be more tempted to take a lot of breaks or watch funny memes all day.
